We were inspired to start holding blood drives in 2008 because Carol required countless blood and platelet transfusions while fighting cancer. Thanks to the support of so many generous blood donors since then, the blood drives in Carol’s memory have now collected enough blood products to have helped more than 16,000 recipients. Your dedication and generosity have made it possible for thousands of families like ours to spend more time with their loved ones!
THANK YOU
for helping us save
thousands of lives
since 2008!
Since 2008, we have been privileged to be able to honor Carol through carrying out our mission of ensuring that blood products would always be available for those who needed them. Over the years, our drives have collected more than 5,400 units of blood that have been used to help more than 16,000 patients. None of this would have been possible without the participation, support, generosity, and friendship of so many people. We are profoundly grateful for the relationships that the blood drives have brought into our lives.
Although we have likely held our last blood drive, as we move on to other endeavors we do plan to keep our website and email addresses active, and we hope that you will stay in touch! Thank you for the motivation and inspiration that you have provided to us for so many years. Just as your blood donations have made a difference in the lives of hospital patients and their families, your participation in our blood drives has forever changed our family’s life as well.

Blood products must be on the shelves, and ready to use, before they are needed—and the need is constant. Thank you for your help, your support, and your commitment to saving lives!

Thank you for a memorable 2021!
* In 2021, despite pandemic-related blood drive cancellations that limited the number of drives we could hold, the Carol H. Axelrod Memorial Blood Drive collected 343 units of blood—enough to help as many as 1,029 patients.
* We are grateful for the flexibility and generosity of officials in Radnor Township, who made it possible for us to hold both our spring and fall blood drives at the Radnor Activity Center. We are so appreciative that they were willing to offer us the use of this site on very short notice when our original October location was unable to accommodate the drive.
* Thanks to our incredible donors, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters, we have now collected enough cumulative units since our first blood drive in 2008 to have helped more than 16,000 patients receive lifesaving blood transfusions and spend more time with their families!
We are so grateful to everyone who has contributed to this effort to honor Carol’s memory by saving lives. THANK YOU for all of your support!
** We also were privileged to help raise support and awareness for 12 very deserving organizations through our regular Community CHAllenge program and the special “10 for 10” Community CHAllenge we held in May. The program’s beneficiaries in 2021 were the Wayne Food Pantry, Radnor Fire Company, the Wayne Senior Center, Peter’s Place, Radnor ABC, Francisvale Home for Smaller Animals, the Women’s Resource Center, Bryn Mawr Fire Company, the Radnor High School Scholarship Fund, DMAX Foundation, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and the Cancer Center Program at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. **

Our Mission...
The Carol H. Axelrod Memorial Blood Drive was created as a way of “giving back” to the blood donor community that made it possible for Carol to receive all of the blood and platelet transfusions she needed during her treatment for cancer. Our mission is to enable other patients and their families to spend more time together by doing our part to ensure that blood products are always available for those who need them. Our goal is to help the blood donors at our drives have an enjoyable and positive donation experience.
